WEST Kilbride has been recognised as one of the most creative places in the country and it has received a £100,000 award to boost development.

The North Ayrshire town received the Creative Place Award on Tuesday, January 24 and the money will enable the community initiative Craft Town Scotland to develop a series of exhibitions for The Barony Centre.

Maggie Broadley, Craft Town Scotland Creative Executive, thanked those who had contributed to the town's success and said the award has put West Kilbride on the map.
