There will be no Three Towns fireworks display this year due to the cost of the show and a lack of interest.

Donald Reid, previous event organiser, said he appealed for committee members to aid with the event last year but no one came forward.

"The cost of these events is ever increasing and grants were not as readily available this year," he said.

Donald Reid said if more people show an interest then there may be hope for a display next year.

A spokesperson for the Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, who have sponsored the event in previous years, said they were not approached this year to sponsor the event.
